Amid increasing domestic and international tensions, Joanne Lewis founded the Global Issues Resource Center in 1986. The goal of this new center was to advance peace and conflict resolution through education. The Global Issues Resource Center emphasized a global prespective on conflict, environmental issues, civic responsibility, and multicultural awareness. For nearly three decades, the Centerhas provided professional development workshops, organized conferences, and coordinated special projects in support of its mission.
Today, the Global Issues Resource Collaborative continues to support professionals and students by providing classes, resources, and other learning opportunities that encourage a global approach to local, national, and international issues.
The Global Issues Resource Collaborative at Cuyahoga Community College is dedicated to the exchange of best practices to help enhance the capacity within our community to address social challenges by convening practitioners, academics, and policy makers to provide a global perspective, explore emerging trends, and design sustainable, multi-cultural solutions which address challenges in our community and our world.
The books, movies, and games available at the Eastern Campus Library's Global Issues Resource Collection exists to support the goals and mission of the Global Issues Resource Collaborative.
